Now accepting monthly contributor applications

The Young Catholic Woman is looking for insightful writers to produce impactful, original, and thought provoking articles. The contributor will be expected to produce one article per month, understanding that articles may go through rounds of drafting. Each contributor will have their own blog category to write for and are expected to produce pieces appropriate to that category. They will be working closely under our Editor during the drafting process to polish and clarify articles when needed. Some writing experience is preferred, although not necessary, but the contributor must have a working knowledge of the Catholic faith and be a practicing Catholic as well.  This is an unpaid, volunteer position lasting one year with the possibility to renew at that time.

We will also be opening applications for VIGIL writers in early 2021. If you are interested in contributing solely to VIGIL, please refrain from applying to the Monthly Contributors. This application is solely for theYCW. Please see details below.

Responsibilities for Accepted Contributors

  • Write one article per month, due the first of every month.

  • Write at least one article for VIGIL when assigned (note: contributors may write more than one article but will be expected to also meet their monthly commitment as well).

  • Articles must strive for good grammar and consistent, logical flow of ideas.

  • Research topics and cite sources as appropriate.

  • Work with the editor to polish and clarify articles when drafting.

  • Be prepared to produce the next article on time even if the previous article is still in the drafting process.

    (If selected as a contributor, the category assigned to you will be chosen based upon availability, preference, and suitability to writing style.)

BEFORE APPLYING, please note we always accept submissions. For our 2021 Team, we are not looking for writers who create spiritual reflections alone. Although there is a place for this on theYCW via our open submissions, we are intentionally seeking out more journalistic style writers to create a space where Catholic Women can come for refreshing points of views, engaging interviews, and insightful topics.  We want contributors who approach the woman’s experience of Catholic life with boldness and compassion.

Due to the volume of submissions, we will only be in contact with you if we would like to learn more. If you do not hear from us by November 30th, you can assume you were not chosen this year but we thank you for your consideration in advance!
