Experience The Word Renewed

In each of us lies gifts given by God, specifically meant for us and no one else. It is when God calls us that those unique gifts are brought to the forefront of our lives. KINDRED is a ministry founded by five people who consider themselves to be ordinary individuals with an extraordinary calling. They stand by the principle of modesty, using their gifts for this ministry but sacrificing personal glory for the glory of God.

The inspiration for KINDRED’s ministry began in 2018 as they prayed one particular evening. At the conclusion of the prayer, they clearly heard God speak, he whispered to them, “Move the river.” The founders of Kindred said that the more they tried to diminish those three words, the louder God spoke.  For several months they thought about this message and what it could mean.

The calling became undeniable, and the meaning of those words became clearer in their hearts. For KINDRED, “Move the river” is God's call to action to recover holy ground. They believe that the devotional space that exists between a person and God is sacred. KINDRED is “our humble response to answer God’s call and reclaim His territory. We believe that when we act without prayer, we move without Christ. Prayer begins with giving God our time. KINDRED exists to make the Word of God accessible, to help us all give God just a bit more time.”

The founders of KINDRED go on to explain, “Our ministry's purpose is to help people grow wiser in the Word of God. For KINDRED, our work begins with making the Bible accessible. The Bible in itself is intimidating. It is intimidating to hold a complete library in your hands, especially a library which contains the teachings that we require for our salvation. Even as devout Christians, we ourselves sometimes struggle with how to approach the Bible. I can tell you that there have been countless times that I have opened the Bible to a random page without direction and hoped for the best. Our mission at KINDRED is to change how people encounter the Bible. We work to engage and re-engage people in the Word of God.

In 2020, KINDRED released their first book, The Gospel According to Mark, which was prayer-led in its design. The book showcases the word of God with beautiful imagery specific to each scripture passage. They explained that their prayers for the design of the book “ultimately took us down a design path where each parable and scriptural passage is given its own page or spread,” allowing awe to come back to us as we read through the word of God.

Their second book, The Gospel According to Luke, will be releasing in a few short weeks. KINDRED Bibles contain the imprimatur, which means they are approved by the Catholic Church and a portion of every purchase is tithed back to the Catholic Church.

As a ministry, they accept prayer requests throughout the week and offer up every request in their weekly internal prayer devotional. You can submit prayer requests to them through their Instagram, Facebook, or their website. They also periodically release short (under five minutes) faith reflections on their podcast.
