Framed and Matted Print of The Annunciation by Maurice Denis

$32.99

Maurice Denis was a French painter who was in love with the Blessed Mother, and wow has this man become my favorite painter of late. He has many works done on the Annunciation, amongst other biblical topics. A devoted husband and father, the artist often used his beloved first wife, Marthe, and their six children as models, placing sacred figures in settings from his daily life. His work is often bold, colorful, inspired by Cézanne but with a reserved restraint from his love of Japanese art. He also influenced modern painting by his insistence on seeing the subject as a flat plane. He wrote: "Art remains a sure refuge, the hope of a reason in life from now on, and the consoling thought that little beauty manifests itself in our lives, and that we are continuing the work of Creation.... Therefore the work of art has merit, inscribed in the marvelous beauty of flowers, of light, in the proportion of trees and shape of waves, and the perfection of faces; to inscribe our poor and lamentable life of suffering, of hope and of thought."

The best part? It’s already framed, matted, and ready to go! (Anyone else HATE having to find frames for their prints?) It’s printed on a quality matte paper and framed with a semi-hardwood alder frame.

• Paper weight: 189 g/m²
• Ayous wood frame
• Acrylite front protector
• White mat board
• Hanging hardware included
• 21×30cm posters are size A4
